Lejogaster metallina and Riponnensia splendens
tim worfolk
I'm fairly sure these are L.metallina but would appreciate confirmation as tarsata is also a possibility at this site.

4 different individuals. Late May - early June. Devon, England. Wet Meadow.

Hi
makes me think more of Riponnensia splendens

conopid
Yes, I agree it is R splendens - look at that broad white band of dusting on the face. This is a good character for defining the species. R. splendens seems to be the commonest of the shiny metallic looking Chrysogastrini in the UK.

Many thanks to both of you. Always happy to be corrected, especially if I can learn something from it. I'll have to be more careful in future.

Also the 2 stripes of white dusting on the thorax give a clue.

Let it be noted that the first picture shows a female Lejogaster metallina....

Many thanks Gerard and my apologies for not noticing your reply sooner - I really should pay more attention. Thanks also to Roger for pointing this out to me.
