This one looks similar to #2. It was photographed June 28 on a salt flat near the beach on the island of Naxos. ID help appreciated.

Well it's Bombyliidae, but I don't know which. I expect David Gibbs can help. This is female, and your other one is male - I would guess of the same species - they do look pretty similar.

the widely separated antennae suggest Cytherea but this is not a species i have seen, it is not the common C. obscura. not necessarily a female, Cytherea are dichoptic in both sexes. |
