Seen today (6.vii.2006) in Berkshire, southern England - about 6mm. Is it a Miltogramma - and if so which one?

Miltogramma punctatum I'd say. This is a Meigen species (see dipterists (note this is a Glossary adWink). M. germari has shifting more asymmetric pattern on the abdominal tergites and more distinct vittae on the thorax. germari is also rarer but this should never be a guide . Rarity is not a character and I'm ashamed to have mentioned itSad. Robert

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
