Stratiomyidae. This is one of the most spectacular stratiomyids I've seen! Lucky you! |

Well i am not very sure (a lot of photos and walking that day) but i would say a little less than a domestic fly... Maybe i can repeat the walk because it is not very far from home... |

6 years later at the same locality I found again an Oxycera which I think it is O. marginata... But the fly stopped at my right hand and began to clean itself so I had to take photo with my left hand!!!

Thanks a lot! I forgot to say that the place, wich is a fountain / old drinking trough is the same place where I also found this Oxycera: http://www.dipter...pid=160071 By the other hand, Fontinalis antipyretica it is found at this place. P.D: the ID of the first fly from 2009 is correct? Edited by picotverd on 13-07-2015 10:26 |

of http://www.dipter...pid=160071? I think so. In case you have the possibility to catch some specimens, please, send a male and female to me. I have only a limited number of Oxycera specimens in my collection. It would be good to add some.

LOL! Not so easy. I think it is a female Chloromyia. Impossible to say which one.
