Our town park: flies on bones (1)

Member Location: Posts: 3303 Joined: 17.10.05	July 12, 2006. Size ca. 3mm. Quite numerous on bones (vertebrae and parts of pelvic girdle of a cow I believe), together with Necrobia violacea (Cleridae) and Silphidae larvae. Piophilidae, Prochyliza or Stearibia?

And they might even be different species: one has a yellow anterior margin to the frons, the other has not and the colour of the hind legs is also different. Member Location: Posts: 63 Joined: 05.06.06	There are two species of Piophilidae. Fotos 1 and 2 with Prochyliza varipes (Meigen), and fotos 3 and 4 with Protopiophila latipes (Meigen)
