Tachinidae at my balcony
Dmitry Gavryushin
July 16, 2006.
Size 7mm.
I'd say it looks very similar to some Tachinidae I saw here at diptera.info or posted myself, but now I understand quite well one should be very careful with such statements in case of this family Wink.

One more view.

Those setae on the scutellum are impressive!

The head.

Very nice photos - but can we see a dorsal view so I can see the wing venation, thorax and abdomen clearly? Smile It reminds me of a Meigenia with those raised apical bristles but I can't remember ever seeing so many raised bristles on the top of the scutellum.

OK Chris, a lot more views available, so I'll choose more or less appropriate one today.

Here's a couple more views.

And another one.

It's a Voriini, look at those bristles on the parafacialia !
It looks like Athrycia, most likely curvinervis.

Many thanks Theo

Ahhh, the downward-curving facial bristles? I always associate them with Voria ruralis but I haven't had enough Athrycia to remember having seen them there too.

Theo: Would you be confident to call it Athrycia curvinervis (or - how confident are you?)? If so, I'll add it to the website under that name.
