Dark patterned syrphids from Ecuador (4 pics)

Member Location: Posts: 642 Joined: 19.07.07	Hello to all! I found this syrphids at the Plaza Grande in Quito, Ecuador. Ab. 8mm, 6.8.2009, about 2850m asl. Does anyone know their family or more? Best greetings Rupert

Member Location: Posts: 343 Joined: 10.06.04	The combination of the following characters leads you to Dolichogyna: cell R1 open, vein R4+5 strongly sinuate, ocellar triangle very wide. Additional characters are the pollinose vittae on the mesonotum and the swollen hind femora. Yes, both species look quite different from each other!
