Housefly pathogens
Geoff
Can anyone help? I am trying to compile a list of pathogens carried by Musca domestica for my M.Phil dissertation on Epidemics in 18th Century Eastern Sussex but I have not had much luck so far. I started by referring to "The Housefly" by Luther West, but as this was published in 1951 it is somewhat dated. I've also found a little on the web, but trawling through hundreds, literally, of magazine articles for very little result is very unproductive, so if anyone can come up with a list or any good ideas I would be extremely grateful.

Have you aready checked 'Insects and other arthropods of medical importance' by Ken G.V. Smith?

Let me know if you can get hold of the book from a library nearby. If not I can check it and let you know.

OK Paul, will do. I'm living in France at the moment, but I'll see if Rennes University can get it through the inter-library loan scheme. It will probably take two or three weeks.

Hi Paul,
Have just brought Smith's book home from the library. It seems very good on identification but not very productive for my purposes. It only furnished me with 3 more diseases. At the moment, I'm well short of the 100+ that I have seen mentioned, so if you have any more ideas I'd be grateful. Thanks, Geoff
