Fly bothering ladybirds
elck
This fly was so interested in 3 ladybirds (2 Coccinalle septempunctata and a Harmonia axyridis) that I had no difficulty catching it in a small container.

As my interest lies with ladybirds I am very eager to learn the identity of this fly.

The specimen is not dead, merely waiting for cryogenic technics to develope further Smile

looks like a tachinid - but I am not sure which one but Medina sp. are known parasitoids of Coccinelidae.

It is a Tachinid alright, and it seems to be Blondelia nigripes, a very common species.
The interest of this fly in the ladybirds, must, however, have been accidental and cannot be assciociated with parasitism. Because the fly is clearly a male !
