Lathyropththalmus aeneus ? -> Eristalinus sepulchralis male
brigitteu
Hi

this syrphidae is a very special one for me :-)

Found them looking through the pics of 2009. Could it really be Lathyropththalmus aeneus? In my syrphidae-book it is written, that this syrphidae should be predominant in the near of coast but sometimes far of the coast too.
Or could it be a similar one, the Eristalinus sepulchralis . . .
or am I complete wrong . . . ?

Switzerland, near lake Zurich, in my neighbours garden, 05.09.09, 412 müM

Thank you for help and ID!
Kind regards from Switzerland (still snow in the meadow)
Brigitte

Genus name nowadays is: Eristalinus. Species: sepulchralis. Gender: male
(in the male the eyes are separated, almost like in females, which is a good way to distinguish it from aeneus)

Thank you very much André!
also for added informations: eyes, male and female was confusing for me. But no longer :-)
Kind regards, Brigitte
