Empididae? doubt it

I've seen this in one of the last days of April.
Serra da Arr?bida, mountains at the shore, south of Lisbon (Portugal)
The photo was taken with arms partially streched out and spying at the camera viewfinder for focusing from some 30cms away ... the fly was just too far Smile

I don't real know empidids ... the only feature that would make me be more sure of it would be the eye nick, if I could see it.
Then I know they have much less bristles than asilids and not beard, maybe a rigid proboscis.

But that might no be enough to make this one of them ...

Rest assured, it is Empis. With my scant knowledge of the fauna of the Iberian Peninsula I will make no guess of the species.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
