Hi Nikita, Both specimens belong to the "combinata group", which means that to get a positive identification, you need to study the genitalia. If I have to guess the identity of both specimens I would say that the first one is a female of Geomyza balachowskyi. The second one is a bit difficult to judge, it could also be a female (which would be one of the reasons there was no copulation  . Again if I would have to guess, I would say it is probably a specimen of Geomyza hackmani. So, yes, I think the two specimens belong to different species, but it is difficult to give a positive identification after a picture.Jan Willem |
