Please help a novice! Nowickia ferox?

Hi, I spotted this fly a couple of days ago in Hampshire, UK and after trawling through pages from the gallery the closest I can find is Nowickia ferox. I only got 1 picture as a jogger came past and kicked the scabious it was sitting on... Jo |

Yes that looks correct - they are fairly common in the south ![]() Manager of the UK Species Inventory in the Angela Marmont Centre for UK Biodiversity at the Natural History Museum, London. |
