Menno Reemer
Who knows what this is? It measures 5 mm. Possibly Ephydridae?
Thanks for your consideration,
Menno

Dear Menno
At first I saw your photo and immediately thought about an Ephydridae, then I read your message, so I think your right. It is almost impossible to tell which genus, for the anal segment(s) appears to be broken (off), or not?
Is it aquatic, terrestrial, were is it from?
Best wishes atylotus (aka Ton)

Menno Reemer
Hi Ton,
The anal segments are intact: you see the posterior respiratory tubes (which are fused) at the top end of the picture. The anterior parts are missing, however, due to the emergence of the adult.
I don't know in whcih circumstances it was found. Have to enquire about that.

Dear Menno
You're right, short posterior tubes are indeed visible. When I look closer I think I see small spots on the thorax, unique for Pelina, but not sure, may even be something like Scatella or Parydra.
