kind of Sarcophagidae?
Robert Heemskerk
Hi flyforum,

Yesterday, late in the afternoon I found this kind of ..Sarcophagidae(?)
I do not see any M1 vein!?,
The eyes are not traffic-light-red!? there is more blue in the red of the eyes..
Is this fly Sarcophagidae?, what else..
typical is the yellow line with hairs between(or on?) the eyes.

The arista seems to be plumosa, what I can see.
place: Amsterdam Forest

Sorry, the picture is not so good, much of wind and there was no sunshine left..

Well, there is no bend in vein M, so it is a Muscid.

Polietis lardaria, it seems, indeed a large Muscid

hi Theo,

Aha!, de spekvlieg (the Polietes lardaria - in dutch)
I did not know they where so big!?
That explains that typical muscidae-vein Grin

Thank you,

robert

Well,
double good news:
-1) this mistake is made very often, because of the size
-2) you make it only once, this mistake. Next time you know !
