Bear with me, gentlemen. I just shot these flies in the woods near my house. I believe they are male and female, but not sure which. One has VERY hairy legs - I've never seen anything like these. LOVE those red eyes! I have 3 images to show you, but many more I'll post on my web site forthwith. Thanks in advance. ~Bruce Hmm, now why did not that image load?! You can find quite a lot on this beasty on the net. A number of papers has been published about it's mating behaviour and BugGuide recently also had a number of pictures attributed to this species.
