Scatophaga
Juergen Peters
Hello!

The last flies for today ;-) from me. Are these all Scatophaga stercoraria? The couple photo I took two days ago near the forest (Ostwestfalen/Germany), the greenish one (somewhat smaller, < 10 mm) came to the light yesterday evening. Thanks in advance!

Hi J?rgen
The lower one is stercoraria; the upper ones are also Scathophaga, but a different species.

Oh! I guessed it would be just the other way round (if two species). Thanks!
Best regards,
Jürgen

Jurgen you can tell easily and quickly that the pair at the top are not S stercoraria because they do not have black antennae.

Thanks! This character is not mentioned in my (rudimentary and more general) literature.

@Nikita: Fine that also the couple gets a definite name! :-)
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hi Juergen.
Look at yellow shoulders - it is good character for S. suillia.
