Last body segment of 5 rings, posteriorly cut, with distinct lobes around spiracles, anterior spiracles with 3 openings (Anisopodidae) Last body segment rounded and elongated without distinct lobes around posterior spiracles, divided in 4 rings, anterior spiracles with many openings (Mycetobiidae) |

If Anisopodidae, body segments light - 2 species. -Anal area large, ventrally occupies 1,2 and 3 rings, it is situated on ventral, lateral and partly dorsal surface on the second ring - S. cincta - anal area small, ventrally occupying second ring, a small part of 1 ring and a little more than a half of 3 ring. Anal area on the 2 ring is situated on ventral and lateral surfaces only - S. fenestralis |
