Hi Frank - I suspect this is Leopoldius calceatus (or closely related species) - deceptively similar to Conops strigatus (compare Gerard's specimens in the gallery) but with a short, fleshy proboscis.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
