Ecuador moth 1 (Notodontidae or Lymantriidae)
Leif G
I photographed a few moths in Ecuador, October 2009, which I'm struggling to identify. Maybe this could be THE forum to post them for ID-help.
This one were photographed at Bellavista Cloudforest Reserve around the lodge buildings and I have no idea which species they might be.
Maybe impossible but I give it a try. If this is successfull I got more.

It looks like Lasiocampidae to me ... perhaps you could try some of the workers in French Guiana? They seem to have a few people working on Lepidoptera there but it is very far from Ecuador and I think you might be better contacting someone at a good national museum ... but they do not like to work with photographs usually Wink

Or Lymantriidae.

Thanks both of you.
Yes, getting a good contact from some natural museum would be nice. But maybe not very possible. Maybe someday I'll find someone. In the meanwhile I'll post my unidentified moths here. I could be lucky on some of them.

I would look for Notodontidae or maybe Lymantriidae. Does not look like Lasiocampidae at all.
