Lauxaniidae, Calliopum should be a reasonable guess for most of these.

Thank you very much, Gabor & Paul. I have collected the specimen. Perhaps it?s possible to find a name now. Best regards Frank

Paul,

For quite some years I haven`t been busy with our twowinged friends and, as a consequence, I did not do much more with our lauxanid darlings (I think they are very cute) than just observing them in the garden. So it is very possible that I missed some developement in Lauxanology.

In my collection I have specimens of both Calliopum simillimum and C. aeneum. Evenmore, I have of each species a specimen, which I received from you years ago. Their genitals were prepared.
If I understand you now well, you think that all C. aeneum are infact C. simillimum?? If we are actually dealing with one species in stead of two different species, should the name C. aeneum (Fln, 1820) be prefered above C. simillimum (Collin, 1933)?

Paul Beuk
Hehe, that only applies to the figured specimens above. Frank sent them to me in alcohol. There are two species, rest assured.

Okay, quite a relief! Though I should say that to separate the two species is not easy, so should we deal with one species in stead of two, life should have been made a bit easier for us. On the other hand, we can`t have enough species of them!
