Translation request
Tony Irwin
I have an old watercolour picture of Lembotropis (formerly Cytisus) nigricans (Black Broom) which has some writing on it which is neither Latin nor French. If anyone can translate what's written, or even suggest which language it is, I'd be very grateful. (We British are utterly hopeless linguists! Sad)

It's german. I'll try to write it down so someone from germany can translate Wink

I'm not very good at german so I can have missed a letter or two, but here we go ..

"Cytisus nigricans
Schw?rzlicher Cohnenbaum,
aus Oesterreich."

The name in german. Something like black tree.
Last row says it's from Austria.

"Fr. Cytise noiratre [french?]
Ein ? F. hoher Strauch. Vermehrung
durch den Saamen."

I have no idea about this Smile

Many thanks, Crex, Paul and Pierre for your help. I was taught at school how to read old German print, but old German script is beyond me! Smile
