Attractive 1cm long fly with green abdomen

Can this attractive 1cm long fly which landed on my arm today in Nottinghamshire be identified please?

Probably Chironomini. I have seen a few with clightly clubbed abdomen. I don't know if it's a species character or egg mass (this is a female) or something else.

Tried to attach an image to a forum post. jpg, 32kB, 72dpi, no blanks, ... File name is correctly displayed, but when I click "Preview Thread" it just vanishes. Help!
