Cerdistus (s.l.)
rafael_carbonell
This Asilidae fly, about 10-15 mm lenght, looked similar to some Neoitamus I have seen in the gallery. Found on the ground, 15-07-2011, at Can Grau, Beuda, Girona, NE Iberian peninsula, UTM 31T DG7477, 395 m.

Dysmachus
It seems to be a species of the genus Cerdistus.

Hello,

I've checked at Fauna Europaea that in Spain there's only one species, Cerdistus blascozumetai, but in the Carles-Tolrà catalogue there are other four species in Spain. Also have read from you "In former times this was a female of the genus Cerdistus, now it's impossible to identify the genus without checking the internal structure of the male genitalia."
So, my question is: with which other "new" genera could be confused with "Cerdistus sensu lato"

Thanks in advance,

Rafael

Cerdistus and (A)neomochtherus are closely related genera. I can't see enough on the picture but i wouldn't be surprised if this is the same species as your Aneomochtherus cf confusus (again this is mainly based on the shape of the genitalia).
Greetings,

Reinoud
