HELP! Can anyone help with identifiction of this fruit FLY? The picture was taken on the 5th November when I noticed this fly in my garden on the Ivy berries. My gut feeling is Tephritis Formosa (female). Edited by Tony Towner on 07-11-2006 17:55 |

I forgot to say that the fly was seen in the UK Berkshire town of Reading. The Ivy is actually in flower at the moment and covered with wasps plus this unidentified fruit fly. |

Hello Tony, Yes, I think this is formosa, there have been several in my garden in Buckinghamshire recently too. Makes a change from moths  !Best wishes, Martin P.S. welcome to Diptera.info
