As they have no piercing mouth parts I assume it will be in a similar way to the Dolichopodidae though they may secrete some digestive fluids as well to facilitate feeding. Thank you Paul. And it seems to me that digestive fluidsis is important, as in both cases I observed Scothophaga act not completly as Dolichopodidas. Scathophaga rather lick the victim tenderly than pump. Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
