Sara, The Cecidomyiidae sp. laid her eggs in the stub and obviously the very long ovipositor got caught, so now she is trying to pull it out. Ben |

Nice images. Probably Xylodiplosis. Extremely elongate larvae live in xylem vessels and females oviposit into cut ends of these with their very long, finely tapered ovipositors. |
