I cannot decide whether this is the larva of Nemotelus pantherinus or N. notatus. The larval key in Rozkosny (1973) about the Stratiomyids of fennoscandia is a bit vague about the diagnostics. Any ID? the larval material was collected in an strongly brackish inland water on the isle of Texel, The Netherlands. The bottom had an extreme odour of H2S! Edited by atylotus on 11-10-2011 10:38 |

It agrees with the diagnosis of notatus in Rozkosny's European review.

Thanks Paul. notatus was our first guess, but we were uncertain about it. |
