Fly on Mirror. Family?
Stephen
I photographed it on the bathroom mirror. It was fairly small, though I didn't record the size.

I don't really know what to make of it, except to say that the head reminds of some kind of Crane Fly.

Seems to have a single ovipositor type thing coming out of the tip of the abdomen, so a female?

West Virginia USA, indoors, 6 October 2006.

I'd say Limoniidae but let's wait until one of the specialists drops in.

This one is a female Neocladura delicatula in Limoniidae.

Thanks, Paul, and thanks Chen! I have photographed this species before but I suppose in this pose it seemed even more delicate than before (living up to its specific name!). Thanks for the ID!
