Hello! These unobtrusive flies with the size of a house fly are very common on flowers here in Germany from early summer to autumn, but I have never managed to find out, what they are (I think, they are not Mydaea scutellaris (?)), not even the familiy (Muscidae, Antomyidae?). Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance!

The male looks a lot like Phaonia angelicae (Muscidae). The unfortunate female is probably also a Phaonia, possibly P. pallida (P. angelicae female is similar but the thorax is browner).
