Hello! Can anybody tell me the family, genus or - at best - species name of this small (8-10 mm) fly I found today here in Ostwestfalen/Germany on a hedge near a brook? Thanks in advance! It's a psilid, probably of genus Psila - yellow species of Chamaepsila and Psilosoma are smaller. 8-10mm is hardly a small fly! The majority of flies are much smaller and the smallest ones are hardly 1mm long. |

Yes, I know. ;-) What I wanted to say was that it was not a large one like Sarcophaga, Tachina or the big Laphria I saw yesterday (but wasn't able to take a picture of :-(), but also not a very tiny one.
