Saw this beastie alongside a creek in NSW. It was seriously big, like more than 3 cm long. sorry for the poor quality of the photograph, it was at quite a distance. Could someone kindly ID it ? Tony Moore. |

It is a robberfly, Asilidae, possibly Asilus crabroniformis. But I am not a robberfly specialist.
