Location: Hungary Date: 2006-07-15 Habitat: garden I hope an expert helps me to identify this fly at least the genera if possible. This image is the best among the others and maybe shows sufficient characters. I will appreciate if you can say some indication. |

Hello Tony, in my opinion the image could also be of a specimen of the Choerades fimbriata / fulva - group. Have a look at the very dense patch of yellow / pale hairs on the thorax side. In marginata / femorata this patch is in most cases not so dense and very often intermixed with some longer dark hairs. The pale margins on the tergites are rather broad, especially at the end of the abdomen. The patch of pale hairs in front of the scutellum often occurs in this species-group (fimbriata / fulva). Unfortunately tergit 1 is not to see under the wings. Greetings Danny |
