Location: Hungary Date: 2006-07-12 Size: 10-12 mm Habitat: On the wall of my house After I had came home I saw these flies thronging on the wall. Probably they were looking for a warmer cranny where they can hide. If you ask me I would say to you it is Calliphora vicina. Is it correct? |

I think so, this looks exaclty like the males of C. vicina that I observed in Hungary. Though the top view is not the best, you should always attempt to do a lateral shot at all flies, particularly if it is a Calyptrate fly. Lateral view is more informative for Calliphora sp.
