Small black fly, no idea
Jan Zwaaneveld
Photographed last week at Leerdam, Netherlands. Unfortunately, I got only one shot. It reminded me of Calliopum, which I photographed before, but this one does not have striped eyes. Could anyone say something useful about it? Thanks in advance!

I'd say Anthomyiidae (male), but most of the 'easy' characters are not visible in the photo.

Thanks for your comments, Kahis en Jorge. I understand that it is difficult to say something definitive about this fly's ID from this poor photograph.
Oh well, it was worth a try. Wink

Err ... what about it? Both Fannia and many anthomyiids have flattened abdomen.

hmm... I thougth that just Fannia spp. had flatenned abdomen among Muscidae and Anthomyiidae. Ok, thank you for correction. Wink
