Tachinidae - Gymnocheta sp.
Bruce Marlin
Found this large (10mm) tachinid buzzing around in the underbrush 6-29, near Chicago IL USA. Never seen one before or since. Anyone familiar with N. American tachinids? Thanks!

Surely someone has an idea for a genus on this lovely fly?

Hi Bruce - well i will go as far as to say it is a tachinid! Smile But North American stuff is way out of my field of expertise. Jim O'Hara in Canada might be able to help - have you tried him?
