Saldidae? Pentacora?
Robert Heemskerk
hello other insektforumreaders

This afternoon I found this kind of Saldidae(?) on a place near water (Amsterdam Forest).
Could this be Pentacora?
I don't know about its appearance in The Netherlands?

The eyes are not big for a Saldidae-sp., it is typically spotted and it's size was about 1 cm.

Do you have any idea about this specie?

I think this is Lygaeidae. As far as I know the eyes in Saldidae are even bigger.

My guess would be Rhopalidae, maybe the very variable and rather common Stictopleurus punctatonervosus, but the angle of your shot is not quite near the optimum ...

Thank you for your suggestion,

I was not in a ideal position to make these pictures and I had to take care my camera didn't fall in the water.

But the second pictures are more from above..
The dark spots on the back (wings) are typical for Heterogaster urticae?
Could be this one!?

Hello!

Possibly Chilacis typhae (Lygaeidae)? But I'm no expert.
Best regards,
Jürgen

Hm - these should have much shorter antennae afaik. But I don't like the idea "Stictopleurus" very much any more, with these additional pics. Next guess: Lygaeidae, Heterogaster sp. (cf. urticae).

Hello
I think it is Rhopalus subrufus with the end of the scutellum white.

For comparision:

Rhopalus:

Heterogaster:

Note the corners of the scutum that are pointing backwards in Heterogaster but (almost) not in Rhopalus subrufus, and the general outline of the Thorax.

Also the dark spots in the wings and legs and the shape of the antenne gives me the idea that this is Heterogaster urticae.

Thanks a lot for the information and the nice foto-links
