Hi flyforum, This Calliphora looks a bit like Calliphora vomitoria but I can not find any reddish beard.. And the colour of the eyes? Isn't it too much traffic-red? The basicosta seems pale to me.., cheeks grey/black.. Nice to hear your comment  |

Hi Robert. Early spring Calliphoridae of size smaller than "normal" Calliphora, with reddish eyes and not very sharp curved M may belongs to genus Melinda. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |

Nikita is right. In 'all' Calliphora (high mountain and boreal species excluded) the lower calyptra is distinctly darkened. If it's not, it should be Melinda. Theo Zeegers |

Thank you Nikita and Theo, on picture 2, I see a calyptra which is white but I don't know if this is the lower calyptra? If it is, then this is: Melinda gentilis or Melinda viridicyanea isn't it? Only to identify by genitalis? |
