France, Dordogne. Mixed woodland/meadow on limestone. 4th June 2012. Size 8mm. (ref# 34) I'm not sure about this, perhaps Myxexoristops? In which case M. stolida? Steve |

Very difficult group. It is consistent with Myxexoristops, that seems to be a good call. The scutellum is completely dark, tip included. That would rule out stolida. More like M. blondeli Theo |

Wow - if you have a recently-caught Myxexoristops then it is great news - they are incredibly rare in the UK. Can you take photos of it?

Hi Chris, I know its a rarity. I've discounted Pales and Carcelia and can't see I've gone wrong in the key. All the characters seem to fit. I'll try to take a decent photo as I would be interested in your opinion. Cheers John |

First thing to check for is the setae on the humeruls: 5 in total, of which basal 3 is distinct triangle. Carcelia and Pales are way off, there is more danger in Phebellia, Phryxe, ..... Theo |
