I think these two photos depict the same Diptera, although I'm not 100% certain. I spotted it often on various types of fungus last year in a holm oak and pine wood near Rome in Italy. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance, Sarah |

These are pictures of a Helomyzidae, genus Suillia. One of the species in the genus with wings marked like this is S. variagata, but I do not know if there are any other species like it in Italy.

Thanks again Paul. We certainly have Suillia variagata in my part of Italy, along with quite a few others of the same genus. Suillia sp. is certainly near enough for me at the moment! Sarah |
