 Cranefly (Tipulid) larvae

Hi, I collected this larvae near Bristol (UK). It lives in the mudflats by the coast line. Does anyone know what species it might be? I think it's a tipulid larvae. I've had a look at some pictures online and it looks similar to Tipulid luna, Tipulid unta, Ptychoptera sp., though I'm not sure. These larvae are quite small. dear daniel there is no picture. Try adding it again, withouth using spaces in the filename and not too large. |

dear Daniel most likely the larvae of Limoniidae, subfamily Eriopterinae. The size, but most of all the constriction just in front of the anal lobes is typical for Eriopterinae. A detailed photo of the anal lobes and head capsule will help in identificationn up to genus-level at most. |
