Toxomerus? Note the notched hind edge of the eye at the middle of head level. |

For a serious Dipterist it might not be too big a difficulty but they'd probably have to do some networking in the museums and research institutes to get the contacts to give them the necessary support. One expert on tropical Syrphidae is F. Christian Thompson at USNM: http://entomology...sonFC.html. Among other publications, he coauthored a paper on distinguishing the "larger" Toxomerus. |
