I photographed this fly at Sugar Maple sap in the woods, but then photographed another one half a kilometer away in an open area. Sepsidae? Can anyone provide further information on this fly? West Virginia USA, 14 March 2007. Size: 3.5 mm. --Stephen Stephen Cresswell www.americaninsects.net |

I think that female of Sepsis sp. is maximum out of this image.

First image with fatty abdomen looks female, the second one looks male - abdomen thiner and it seems that there are weapon (spines, strong setas) on ventral surface of f1. Nikita Nikita Vikhrev - Zool Museum of Moscow University |
