Hello Flyforum, Yesterday I found a tachinidae sp. which got characteristics of Phryxe nemea.. But I am not sure, size = ok for Phryxe nemea (>1cm) There are a lot of blond hair on the eyes... This fly is darker and the eyes are a lot closer to each other.. The colour of the antenne (clubs) are pale!? colour of eyes is a bit more braun. Is this Tachinidae Phryxe nemea? or what else? Hi Robert, There are 325 species of Tachinidae in the Netherlands, about half of them of this size. As you noticed, the eyes are much too close to one another for Phryxe. This is a male Lypha dubia, a common spring species. An early record, though. The bronze colouration and the curved apical crossvein are characteristic, as are the long hairs on the eyes. Thank you very much for your comment Theo. The apical crossvein is curved. Am I right that these are the curved apical crossveins?: (Phryxe nemea got also apical crossveins which are a bit curved.., perhabs less curved as Lypha dubia?) Edited by Robert Heemskerk on 26-03-2007 11:04 |
