Hello everyone, This is just to inform you about a new book by Dr. Stephen Marshall. It is called Flies: The Natural History and Diversity of Diptera (FireFly Books Ltd., 2012, ISBN-10: 1770851003, ISBN-13: 978-1770851009, price (new) at amazon.com $78.75). As you might well be aware it's not the first experience of the author in this field, maybe you are familiar with similar editions like Insects: Their Natural History and Diversity: With a Photographic Guide to Insects of Eastern North America (2006); 500 Insects: A Visual Reference (2008). The book I'm writing about is definitely the best introduction to the order of Diptera, dealing with all aspects of dipteran life and displaying the fantastic diversity of flies; it's packed with thousands of images of insects mostly taken in nature by the author in his trips all over the world. A must-have for all Diptera addicts and insect aficionados in general. For more detailed reviews by Terry L. Erwin ( National Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Institution) and by J. Rohacek & J. Sevcik please check here http://www.pensof...of-diptera and here http://www.eje.cz...ohacek.pdf. I'm attaching the scans of front and back covers and couple of spreads.
