Dear Ole
it is Stratomyiida indeed, and even a Oplodontha/Odontomyia as you already guessed. However I cannot tell you for sure which genus/species withouth looking closer at the head. My best guess would be Oplodontha looking at the color pattern, but not sure though.

ole
many thanks!
- must then try to get a proper head next time if I gets a second chance!

Ole
I'm back on the lab again and verified your picture with some of my specimens and I think it is closer to Odontomyia tigrina than any other species. In Oplodontha larva the dorso-lateral yellow line show more of a zig-zag-pattern while in yours the dorso-lateral yellow line is straight. Also I see several short and broad dorsal hairs (almost scale-like) and the anal segment is relativally short, so this must be O. tigrina and not Oplodontha or Od. ornata. However, as any other Odontomyia in surface waters are scarce (like argentata) and never been seen by me (or any others?) I'm only 99% sure, for I cannot rule out the rarer ones.

Then I indeed am sorry I didnĀ“t took it and tried to hatch it.
It would have been very exciting!
thank you very much for further studies

Greetings, Ole
