On birch exudate. Size approx. 1.8 mm. Of other flies, Anisopodidae (incl. mating pairs) were notably numerous. Something like D. subobscura maybe? Edited by Dmitry Gavryushin on 13-04-2007 12:05 |

A species of the subobscura group is correct. Any chance you can enhance the right fore tarsus somewhat from the original images (sharpen). The number of teeth in the combs should decide whathe it is helvetica (in my recollection most likely considering habitat/behaviour) or subsilvestris.

Is that in both combs? There are two, one on the metatarsus, one on the second tarsal segment.
