Hello! I found this Syrphid yesterday at the wood (Ostwestfalen/Germany). It was considerably smaller than the also flying Syrphus sp.. I'm not sure: could it be Parasyrphus punctulatus? Thanks in advance. Best regards, Jürgen -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Juergen Peters Borgholzhausen, Germany WWW: http://insektenfo... -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= |

Probably it is P. punctulatus. But from the morphology alone it could be P. macularis as well. They are distinguishable by characters of the male genitalia. Regards, Dieter |
