This is a very fine picture of a species of Dejeaniops, probably unnamed. There are only three named species, ollachea which has a yellow and black abdomen, beckeri, which has a darker abdomen with narrower stripe down the middle, and a third name whose type I have not seen, so don't know what it is. We have about 15 specimens, all from Ecuador, of the species shown in the photo to which I have compared it.

It is interesting that all of our specimens have the long black palpi held closely together, as in this photo, while the proboscis, which is equally long, is held pointing backward in our specimens, while in the photo it doesn't show at all. Perhaps it is pointing backwards between the legs also in the live specimen, although I would have supposed it would have been held beneath the palpi - but then the labella should have been projecting slightly beyond the apices of the palpi.
