Hi * locality - Silgueiros - Viseu - PORTUGAL * date - 2007.04.22 * size - 10 mm (large fly) * habitat - woodland, near river * substrate - air ![]() * temperature - 30 ?C This fly tried to bite me, but I catched it first ![]() ![]() ![]() It is a very impressive fly to see moving and it is alive yet. ![]() Haematopota sp. (perhaps pluvialis, but I don?t know the characters for species in Haematopota sp. Well, I have my reservations. Much too black-and-white for pluvialis. Looks more like eugeniae or ocelligera. Need to check my notes Theo |

Yes, thank you. I'm not sure, it is either ocelligera or pluvialis. the lights ad colouration are so varying, depending on the flash, that I've got the feeling I've been tricked by some pictures (the scutellum is quite white in some, while quite dark in the last ...). So, it might be pluvialis after all. Sorry... Theo |
